Dear students, parents and guardians:

Welcome back! Our school year has gotten off to a great start! Thank you for all of your help in making our first week a success.

As of yesterday, we have had two successful fire drills and one successful evacuation practice drill. Two practice lockdown drills are scheduled in the upcoming weeks.

Below are a few of the upcoming events:

The deadline for applications to be turned in for 7th and/or 8th grade students interested in being a member of the RMS Robotics Team, “Fuzion #10551” is tomorrow, August 16th. Applications are available in the office. All completed applications are be given to Mrs. Fields or turned in to the office.

This Friday, August 18th, Photogenius will be taking fall pictures of all of the students for the yearbook and for personal purchase. Packets for picture orders should be available soon.

We are fortunate that a solar eclipse will be occurring this month while we are in school.
The Board of Supervisors have provided solar glasses for all of our students and the science teachers are in the process of making plans for that
Monday afternoon, August 21st.

The middle school volleyball team have home games scheduled for Tuesday, August 22nd, against Castlewood and Thursday, August 31st, against Grundy. The first home game for the middle school football team is Thursday, September 14th against the Central Warriors.

Reminder: all students coming to watch home middle school, JV or varsity ballgames have to either ride the bus home or be picked up by the parent and then brought back later to the school for those games. Supervision is not provided for student spectators after school, so students are not allowed to stay after school.

Schools will be closed on Monday, September 4th, due to the Labor Day holiday. Students will return on Tuesday, September 5th.

With sincere thanks,

John R. Whitner
